First of all I would like to say how happy I am that the Club has appointed me as Club Coach for 2013. I have enjoyed working with all the Colts, managers, parents and C.C.C committee members over the past two years and hope this continues next season.
I am very excited about what lies ahead for 2013. The 2012 season was a tough season for all due to the weather but the club made good strides, maintaining the standard that saw the club achieve ClubMark status the previous year. Also new managers came on board and there was significant improvement across all age groups in 2012.
I hope to take this even further in 2013 and continue to help improve the level of all Colts Cricketers in the club. The club used 8 coaches last season including four Level 2 coaches but hope to have 12 qualified coaches to call on for 2013. This will help the colts have more quality and concentrated coaching ensuring that the skills required to play senior cricket can be taught every week.
As I have also been named First XI skipper I would like to see more Colts playing Senior cricket. The club has lost over 9 First XI players in the last two seasons and it has shown how important a thriving Colts section is. Currently there is a gap between the Colts section and Senior Section which I hope to bridge moving forward with more interaction between Senior cricketers and Colts cricketers. It is imperative that the club develop more Senior cricketers to ensure on field success is sustainable and we do not have such a high turnover of players in the future. To do this I will be focusing the coaching plan on the skills I would like in a First XI cricketer. There will be a greater focus on match practice and weather permitting we will see more sessions out on the middle instead of net based sessions.
Camberley Cricket Club is a terrific place to play cricket and there are so many people working hard behind the scenes to grow the club and turn it into a thriving community based cricket club. I hope I can add to this in 2013 with my coaching team and we will see further improvement from all Colts in 2013.
