SCB Restructuring Announcment

Changes to the Cricket Development Team at Surrey Cricket Board  March 2014

The Surrey Cricket Board (SCB), whose role is to support the development of recreational cricket in Surrey, is making some significant changes to the structure of its operational team.

In response to the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) “Champion Counties” strategy for 2013-2017 which calls upon County Cricket Boards to deliver very specific outcomes in return for their central funding, the SCB has decided to implement a new operational structure.

This will provide clearer lines of responsibility for the Cricket Development Officers, give greater operational responsibility to the Director of Cricket Development (Paul Taylor) and align support services in newly defined roles.  In addition to the anticipated improvement in delivery capability, the Board’s fixed costs will now be closely aligned to its known income streams.

After what will be a challenging transition, we look forward to a newly focused team delivering relevant programmes in support of ECB’s overriding goal - which is:

“To engage with the recreational cricket players and volunteers in Surrey in order to encourage more people to play cricket more regularly in teams”

We look forward to making a much greater impact in the County, and acknowledge that we must engage more directly with players, clubs, coaches, schools and especially the volunteers without whose commitment nothing happens.

Full details of the new structure will be announced shortly with new structure taking effect on Monday 10th March 2014.
